So if you have any interest in birds, you’ve likely tried finding a bird house that has a camera built into it. You’ve also likely saw that the cheapest is generally $100+.
Well, I wanted to whip something together that I could easily build and hook up in a day. So I first went to amazon to see what I could find as far as cheap bird houses. Come to find there is a common ‘build-yourself’ wooden model that is extremely cheap. I got 2 for $30 in a pack deal with same-day shipping.
Next; camera. As I tinker a lot, I happen to have some old Wyze v3’s sitting around. These are pretty nifty as they recently announced that they can support RTSP streams so you don’t have to go through their app if you don’t want to. This also allows you to hook it up to Home Assistant if that tickles your fancy.
Now, how to put them together. I have a 3D printer if it wasn’t evident from the prior post about 3D Printing… So I decided the easiest way way to quickly draft something up.

The main thought was basically to protect it from the elements and mount it to the actual box. While the camera is generally weatherproof, I wanted a little extra.
After about 3 hours of printing and a dollar or so in filament we have the final product!

And after cutting a small hole in the lid under the mount, and setting up RTSP we have a live stream!

Now all I need is for the birds to move on in!
